Hossein MIR-MOHAMMAD SADEGHI is a distinguished criminal law professor at Shahid Beheshti University in Tehran, Iran. Abdullahi Ahmed An-Na'im is a Sudanese-born Islamic scholar who currently teaches at Emory University, United States. He is the Charles Howard Candler Professor of Law at Emory University School of Law, associated professor in the Emory College of Arts and Sciences, and Senior Fellow of the Center for the Study of Law and Religion of Emory University. As an internationally recognized scholar of Islam and human rights and human rights in cross-cultural perspectives, Professor An-Na'im teaches courses in international law, comparative law, human rights, and Islamic law.

Michael BOHLANDER

Michael Bohlander is a former German judge with a particular interest in comparative and international criminal law. His publications (19 books and over 140 articles, case comments, book reviews etc.) have been widely cited by courts of several domestic and international jurisdictions. Professor Bohlander's main research interests lie in international and comparative criminal law, including their linguistic and cultural aspects. The German Federal Ministry of Justice lists his English translations of the German Criminal Code and of the Act on International Cooperation in Criminal Matters on its official website. The translation of the German Criminal Code was translated into Farsi by Ms. Asli Abbasi and published in Iran in 2010, followed by the translation of his monograph "Principles of German Criminal Law" in 2011. 

Anver M. EMON

Anver M. Emon studies premodern and modern Islamic legal history, the role of Shari'a both inside and outside the Muslim majority world, and the historiography of that that field of knowledge production. Anver M. Emon researches in the burgeoning field of Islamic law. With doctorates in both history and law, he researches Islamic legal history to reflect on the deployment of Islamic law in the past and the present across different regions.  In addition to publishing numerous articles, Emon is the author of Islamic Natural Law Theories (Oxford University Press, 2010), and Religious Pluralism and Islamic Law: Dhimmis and Others in the Empire of Law (Oxford University Press, 2012), as well as the co-editor of Islamic Law and International Human Rights Law: Searching for Common Ground? (Oxford University Press, 2012).  He is the founding editor of Middle East Law and Governance: An Interdisciplinary Journal, and series editor of theOxford Islamic Legal Studies Series.

Ahmed Fekry IBRAHIM is an assistant professor of Islamic law at McGill University’s Institute of Islamic Studies in Montreal, Canada. He holds a PhD in Islamic Studies from Georgetown University (2011). He received a EUME postdoctoral fellowship from the Berlin research program organized by Berlin-Brandenburgische Akademie der Wissenschaften, Fritz Thyssen Stiftung, and Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin. His teaching and research interests are the formation of Islamic law, legal theory, Islamic legal practice in Mamluk and Ottoman courts, Islamic law and human rights, customary law, and family law.

Seyed Mostafa MOHAQEQ DAMAD is a distinguished law professor at law faculty of Shahid Beheshti University.
